On Monday February 9th we will be previewing our new work “The Death of the Good” at a reading series called “New Stalgica” being held at Nostalgica, the University of Ottawa’s Graduates Student’s bar. Starting at 8pm the readings display some of Ottawa’s most exciting literary ventures. The address is 603 Cumberland. The event is free! For info call 613 422 9342. "The second of the shiny-new-yet-totally- timeless New Stalgica Poetry events. The event begins at 8, open mic at 815, to be followed by scheduled readers/performers. This month we feature: the gifted....Stephanie Demas and members of the Black Hand Theatre Company...the magnificent...Christine McNair! and the incomparabl.... Stephen Brockwell! The night will conclude with our musical guest... Line Dezainde! So come and get warm while chilling in Cafe Nostalgica's relaxmosphere, and enjoy some great literary and musical entertainment....The event is free of charge.... feel free to bring short pieces to read during the open mic set."
January 2009 We are going to Hong Kong! The Black Hand Theatre Collective is one of four internationally companies invited to perform at the National Arts Center in Hong Kong, China. We will be apart of the Microfest which will be taking place in late April of this year. Stay Tuned, more to come!

November 2008 We are back from Istanbul! With "Trans Yapit" a concept for "Gazhane" was realized, which interwove the artistic program with the versatile possibilities of an unusual area and made the potential and charm of this unique place experienceable. The festival used the area for the first time for artistic purposes in a large extent; it supported thereby the request of the district Kadiköy to welcome in the coming years the development of an artistic-cultural centre. At the time of the preparations and executions of the art festival the inhabitants of the quarter as well as Istanbul's culture-creators merged actively and co-operated with the international groups of artists.
October 2008 This month we are performing in the Trans Yapid Festival in Istanbul, Turkey. The international multimedia art celebration of "Trans Yapit" takes place in the district of Kadiköy in Istanbul. This event is totally free of admission for everybody. The festival is a meeting point of numerous performative styles such as acrobatics, music, theatre, dance, figure theatre, machine object theatre, and fire art as well as for new and experimental stage formats. A selection of the best street-theatre artists from Europe, altogether 23 groups of artists from 8 countries were invited to Istanbul. Black Hand is honored to be apart of this noble cause.
September 2008 Performing this month in Ottawa “artstetten” juxtaposes the story of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his beloved Sophie with the increasingly tense correspondence of two world leaders prior to The Great War. The original telegraphs from July 1914 between the German Emperor and the Russian Tsar are artfully woven into one of the greatest untold love stories to paint a multifaceted portrait of the time. "artstetten" will be previewing two nights only in the nation's capital before heading to Turkey. August 2008 We are going to Istanbul! We are very excited to announce that an all London Ontario cast and crew will be perform in the ancient city of Istanbul in Turkey. The Organizers of the Berlin Lacht Festival have invited us to perform in the Trans Yapit Festival in the struggling area of Kadikoy Istanbul. Featuring Alexis McDougall and Tyler Parr, the piece will be written and directed by Stephanie Demas.
July 2008 Again the London Ontario Arts Council has continued to support our mission to create Canadian Contemporary theatre. We would like to thank them for their gracious support for we would not be able to do what we do without their support

November 2007 We have new cast and crew. We have confirmed the line up for our next production. Joining us this year for our 2007- 2008 series is Danielle Le- Saux Farmer, Artem Barry, Brandon Groves and Sophie Ducharm.
October 2007 New Script. Stephanie, our writer in residence is currently working on the script for our next endeavor which will be premiering in Canada before touring Europe.
September 2007 We would like to thank the University of Ottawa's Alumni Association for their financial support of our next seas. Their sponsorship will be put towards our 2008 Canadian and European tour.

That right, The Black Hand Theatre Company and Thaifoon Restaurant would like to announce the Second Annual Bohemian Schmooze! This year we will be dishing out the usual exquisite Thai exquisite Thai hor d'oeuvres while introducing some of London's newest artists. Proceeds go to paying our credit card bills for our Prague performance. Last year's event was sold out so make sure you book your tickets now!

January 2007 Go see the reading Stephanie Demas’ the 34th Day at the Playwright’s Cabaret on Saturday January 20th and 27th in the McManus Studio. The Playwright’s Cabaret is apart of the Grand Theatre’s Underground Series where 20 local unfinished plays are presented in staged readings directed by Jeff Culbert. October 2006 We're in! The Black Hand is pleased to announce that we are going international with Blow This Popsicle Stand. In May 2007 we will be one of the 40 shows that have been selected to perform in the Prague Fringe Festival in the Czech Republic.
August 2006 The wait is over! Finally, a chance to see the greatly acclaimed ‘Blow This Popsicle Stand’ on stage at the London Fringe Festival. The winner of five London One Act awards including Best Original Script, People’s Choice Award and Best Overall Production as well as the 2005 Brickenden for Best Original Script, makes its highly anticipated return this summer.
July 2006 Kick off this summer’s return of the award-winning Blow This Popsicle Stand in the 2006 London Fringe Festival at the Bohemian Schmooze! Indulge in complimentary champagne, a live tribal belly dance and exquisite Thai hors d’oeuvres at London’s hottest new restaurant, Thaifoon. The party starts at 7pm on July 30th. Tickets are only $35, with all proceeds going to The Black Hand: Revolutionizing Theatre’s second season.

April 2006 Check us our in the April issue of Artscape magazine. ArtSCAPE is a monthly journal with a circulation of 10,000 magazines distributed through Art Galleries, Theatres, musical venues, and various retailers in London and the surrounding area. Specifically aimed at the arts community, ArtSCAPE features expertly written, and entertaining articles and profiles on music, theatre, and fine art. CD and book reviews; profiles of London chefs, and our personal favourite, wine of the month, will also be showcased.
March 2006 Audition completed! This month we traveled to Toronto to audition 30 young actors at the Tarragon Theatre for our summer production in London. We saw a lot of great talent and our decision has been made. Stay tuned for whom will be featured in our 2006.
February 2006 We Won! Stephanie Demas won the 2005 Brickden Award for Best Script for Blow This Popsicle Stand. Along with the award, Stephanie received a $500 cash prize to continue writing.
January 2006 Happy One Year Anniversary! We've been going for one year strong! Thanks to everyone who have supported us and believed in us.
December 2005 The ballots are in: Black Hand Theatre has been nominated for seven (that's right, seven!) Brickenden Awards for Theatrical Excellence for 2005. Nominations include: * Best Original Script- Stephanie Demas, Blow This Popsicle Stand SO!
