This original mock musical has RENT-like melodic hooks with the dry wit and style of an Oscar Wilde script. With an all star cast, P & J hosts such talents as Amber Cunningham, Kara Evelyn and Jeff Culbert. Culbert, who plays the role of the eccentric Uncle P.J., recently finished directing the sold out production of The Donnelly Trial. He performed James Reaney’s One-man Masque at Toronto’s Tarragon Theatre and the Palace Theatre. He played 2 different roles in Outlaw at Port Stanley Festival Theatre and Port Mansion Theatre in St. Catherine’s. Also, he is featured in London’s long running radio noir series The Boneyard Man. Brickendens include, Best Actor for Work (London and Dublin Fringe Festival, 2002) and Best Director for Problem Child (2003). His own play, There’s a Monster that Lives in My Girlfriend, will be performed at the ARTS Project in August. Music and script by Joshua Richardson who is a recent graduate of the Don Wright Faculty of Music at The University of Western Ontario. Richardson, who is no stranger to the stage himself, starred as Jean Valjean in Beal Music Theatre’s production of Les Miserables in 2003. He is featured in P & J as the stubborn and eloquent Jack. Richardson is the singer/songwriter of the local London band Seeking Dawn due out with a new release this fall. Also starring the radiant Amber Cunningham as the leading lady Cindy. Cunningham was welcomed onto the folk scene as a member of the award-winning trio Sirens in 2001. She has since moved on to the music theatre scene in London, lending her voice most recently to the production of Tuesdays with Morrie, which opened the 2004–2005 season at the Grand Theatre. Cunningham is a familiar face at the Grand, having been in the productions of Little Shop of Horrors and West Side Story. |
