For Immediate Release: Touring this summer in the Czech Republic and Germany, The Black Hand Theatre Collective is proud to be representing Canada in Europe. From the collective that brought you Blow This Popsicle Stand (proclaimed “utterly brilliant” by The Prague Post) comes a tale of colliding worlds and of what happens when rampant industrial expansion meets rural mysticism. In a village where nightly bomb raids have become the status quo, a young woman walks to church with only a stool and a bag of poppy seeds. Exploring the disruption of the day-to-day routine of traditional life by an unnamed enemy, Silkworm examines the journey of one girl as she discovers the invisible rotting underbelly of the quiet life she leads, and prepares to struggle against what generations of villagers have deemed best to leave unchallenged.
